Neuspeed Short Shift Kit

I have had a short shifter on my Golf for years and is a great, simple mod to do with a 1 bolt change on the gearbox.

B&M seemed to come out with a TT short shift kit first which went to the trouble of changing the gear stick. Not a simple task as it has to be attacked from underneath and you have an exhaust to go through before you can get to it.

Then I heard about the Neuspeed which worked on the old Golf principle of changing a gearbox shift lever, reducing the overall throw by 35%. This unit changes the vertical throw not the horizontal throw!

It also adds a larger balance weight to the mechanism to give you a more solid feel in the shift.

Why would you do this?

The benefit is hard to describe, don't assume this will cure any notchiness if you have it, it wont.
This brings the top throw further back, and reduces the bottom throw, 25% off the top and around 10% off the bottom.

It gives the gear change a heavier feel (The girlies probably wont like it, might break a nail!) and a more switch like movement, a perfect compliment to an armrest!

At first it will feel odd as you are not used to moving the gear stick a short distance and you'll feel your not putting the car in gear properly but after a few minutes of driving you'll be comfortable with it, and you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner! :o)

I got mine through Awesome, we had a few issues as continual product improvement by Audi caught us both out...I'll explain>>>>>>

The TT uses the fairly common to VAG, cable linkage system on its gearbox.

As of 2002, there are 2 types of linkages for the cables on the gearbox end.

2000-2001 models have ball joints and push on cable ends where as my 2002 model has a pass-through pin with a circlip holding on the cable end.
