Dogbone Engine Mount Upgrades

AmD fitted a urethane engine mount for me, which is longer lasting and offers less flexing.
The video below shows an RR session, and during the final run up , then engine flexes in the engine bay far less than other cars some 50% less, this lesser longitudinal force absorption translates into power through the wheels instead of power in twisting the engine.

Its hard to describe how much nicer the car feels with this mod but its makes driving much more pleasurable, gear changes slicker and it feels like power get to the road better.

BUT There is something better!

The VF Engineering dogbone mount!

Available in the UK from
www.jbrperformance.co.uk

Richard and Jason were very helpful and able to get this mount a lot sooner than the other UK distributors.
The are also ECS agents and can get virtually anything www.ecstuning.com sell within a few days.

UK225 introduced me to this mod and I have to say I didn't like it at first on a 10 minute drive.
After another drive at the AmD RR my reservations were eliminated and this mod has so many nice features that its hard to describe them without sounding negative but they are good... all good!

This mount is far more solid and the bushes much smaller, the change is characteristics is a lot bigger than the simple urethane replacement. Fitting does require some minor bending of power steering pipes for clearance

1. Between Idle and 1000 revs, e.g. 900 revs there is a resonant point where engine vibration can be felt
This is only slight and I initially hated it but now its fantastic, you can almost feel the engine living when pulling off, its a bit raw but makes the car much more enjoyable. Believe me this is a minor issue but a nice change.

2. The pickup feels much stronger on application of throttle as weight transition occurs much much less.

3. Even braking feels much more positive as the engine weight is controlled far better.

4. Some additional engine noise is transmitted into the body, added to my airbox mod this sounds and feels awesome.

5. Gear change is much slicker and positive as the engine has moved far less during changes to effect the gear linkages.

Overall this is a great mod. the engineering is superb and it feels fantastic.
I think some may not like the minor amount  vibration when pulling away, I say drive it for an hour or 2 before jumping to conclusions its a great mod.
