Phone Holder

There are not many places for mounting things in a TT are there? :o)

The general phone choices are: -
The factory fit - expensive, but nice
Replace a knee brace - breaks symmetry, maybe hits calf, a bit low, but nice looking
An adaptive bracket - Cheap, and the phones at the right height!

Its common for companies to make brackets which will will fit with hidden
or existing screws these days so there should be no damage to your car.

I bought a Dashmount phone bracket and a custom phone holder from CarPhoneKits.

This was around £25 in total, it uses a knee brace bolt, perfectly angled to avoid the glove box lid
with room for bending a little to customise its angle if needed.

Each install will be different but with my 8210/(now 7210) the problems were the angle perfectly reflected the light
from the rear screen so I couldn't see the display!
This was fixed by using a large black sponge to sandwich between bracket and holder to bring the angle of display down.

UPDATE:- the length of the arm, although sturdy, means that when the weight of the phone is on the end it vibrates laterally

The gap between the metal and dash console was about 3-5mm

I bought some Halfords 6mm number plate fixing pad.

Unscrew the top two bolts to allow the top of the knee brace to come out enough for the bracket to be pulled out.

Stick the pads and trim them to fit along the dotted joint

Refit and the whole assembly will be much more steady with the vibration eliminated,
it "should" work with even heavier kit like PDA's.

UPDATE:- PDA Mount...
